Livestock and footpaths
remember you are entering their home.
Be calm and in control of your dog.
Livestock are inquisitive and will be spooked if they have young.
If they do start being aggressive......let your dog go as they can fend for themselves , do not run , back away .
All very easy to say but more difficult in the field in the heat of the moment. carry a stick and bop em on the nose and then back away as you will have got them really angry then!
Legislation is being looked at due to the number of serious injuries caused, and recently fatalities.
The recent case of McKaskie v Cameron bought to the fore legislation of varying complexities to deal with the various scenarios but more often than not dealt with Cattle and their calves or young cattle.
Duty of care, negligent, Occupiers Liability Act 1957, Trespass under the Occupiers Liability Act 1984, Animals Act 1971, Health and Safety legislation.
Be aware and thankfully ,considering the miles of pathways fatalities are rare.
